Since late 2024 I form part of the Advisory Board for Berlin’s Research Policy
Strategy of the Senate Department for Higher Education and Research, Health and
Long-term Care . Forming part of the advisory board, my input was requested to
provide critical perspectives on Berlin’s strategic approach to strengthening its
position as a leading European research metropolis. Within this advisory board, I
represent the cultural landscape and resources, and their potential for research in
the heritage sector. The board further advises on coordination of scientific output,
successful governance models, and managing competing interests.

The result is a successful research policy strategy for Berlin, strengthening its
position as a leading research hub within an international context.
